GTA IV Expected To Break Sales Records

Sources close to Take-Two Interactive have estimated that Grand Theft Auto IV will reach a new record with its worldwide release on April 29. Microsoft currently holds the record for most sales on release with the launch of Halo 3 which brought in $300 million gross in the first week accounting for 5 million units being sold. Grand Theft Auto IV however has a much larger potential. It will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game consoles while Halo 3 was only available for the Xbox 360 exclusively. Many sources state that Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to potentially exceed $400 million in sales the first week. GTA IV’s predecessor, GTA: San Andreas sold a whopping 21.5 million units which earned it the title of being one of the most successful video games in history.
